Medicash change its Virtual GP & Prescription provider

Medicash the Liverpool based Cash Plan provider has announced a change of its Virtual GP and Prescription Service provider to Medical Solutions which takes immediate effect.

Last night our current provider ceased trading and the Medicash Virtual GP App closed. As soon as we became aware that this was a possibility, we have worked tirelessly to ensure continuity of care for all of our policyholders and to put a new supplier in place.

I am pleased to announce that Medical Solutions have been appointed as our new supplier to provide this service going forward.  Whilst we work to integrate our apps, we are still able to offer all policyholders continued access to this service.

To access the Virtual GP service, users simply need to click on the Virtual GP icon within the main My Medicash App where they will be taken to a page with full information on how to access this service which can be utilised 24/7, 365 days a year.

All policyholders who have previously registered for the Medicash Virtual GP App have been emailed separately to inform them of this change and to reassure them that there will be no break in cover.  A copy of this email can be found here

We have not written to any of your current Medicash clients to inform them of this change. As such, we would ask that you pass on this information to your clients if you feel this is necessary.

We are also pleased to confirm that our new service provider offers some new features and service improvements including:

  • Medical Solutions is the only Virtual GP provider to have a 24/7 Customer Service Contact Centre, so patients can speak with a human being any time, as well as having access to GPs around the clock. 
  • There is no time limit on consultations, whereas with many providers consultations are time-limited
  • Patients can now choose whether they would prefer a telephone consultation or video consultation with a GP.

Please note that we are no longer able to offer the NHS Repeat Prescription Service, but those individuals affected by this change are being sign-posted accordingly.

Please rest assured that we take the continuity of service for our policyholders very seriously and have done everything we can to minimise the impact of this transition and ensure that they can continue to access a GP when they need it most.
